Celebrating Professional Engineers Day!

Today, August 3, 2022, the National Society of Professional Engineers is celebrating Professional Engineers around the world and we want to give a shout-out to the Professional Engineers that we have here at SJB Group, LLC!


Our Professional Engineers strive to fulfill our mission statement “to provide value-added technical services, driven by innovation and efficiency, so that our clients and we are rewarded and successful” daily! Read-on as we highlight our Professional Engineers and the work they do to make SJB proud!


 

Wilfred Barry, PE, PLS

Mr. Wilfred Barry joined the firm of Simmons J. Barry and Associates, Consulting Engineers, as a staff engineer in 1975 working as a junior project engineer for natural gas, water and wastewater utility systems design and construction administration. In the late 1970’s he became a partner in the firm and became firm manager and president in 1985. By this time, the firm was offering highway design and land surveying services. Mr. Barry has managed and participated in the design work completed for major highway and drainage structure projects the firm has performed for LA DOTD and various municipalities and parishes in Southeast Louisiana. Today, his involvement focuses on business development and client relations, the establishment and monitoring of controls and quality assurance plans, maintenance of equipment, training of staff, and profitability of operations.


 

Matt Estopinal, PE, PLS

Mr. Matt Estopinal has more than eight years of experience as a Louisiana licensed professional civil engineer in transportation and community development- related projects. His work experience includes design, contract administration, drainage impact studies, FEMA LOMR applications, utility design, right-of-way plans, contract document preparation, construction supervision, and preliminary and final design for subdivisions, municipal and state projects, athletic facilities, railroads, industrial parks, and commercial developments.





 

Karen Kennedy, PE

Ms. Karen Kennedy has more than twenty-seven years of experience as a licensed civil engineer working in both the municipal and private sectors on both engineering and surveying projects. Ms. Kennedy is the Engineering Department Manager, as well as SUE Department Manager for SJB Group. Ms. Kennedy has completed infrastructure improvement and site development projects for MovEBR, City of Gonzales, City of Donaldsonville, West Baton Rouge Parish, St. James Parish, Ascension Parish, and other local entities and private developers. Many of the projects completed by Ms. Kennedy have included utility design and utility coordination for gas transmission, water transmission, municipal infrastructure, and highway projects.



 

Kyle Haigler, PE

Mr. Kyle Haigler is a registered professional engineer in the state of Louisiana and has more than five years of experience working in the private civil development industry. He specializes in drainage calculation and modeling, and focuses on commercial and residential development planning for SJB Group. His experience includes preliminary site layouts and design, residential and commercial construction plans, preparation of drainage impact studies, and subsurface/open ditch drainage systems.






 

Brian Suberbielle, PE

Mr. Brian Suberbielle has eight years of experience as a civil and structural engineer with expertise in utility engineering. He has conducted compliance inspections for the Louisiana Department of Health to assure public water and wastewater compliance. He has vast experience providing design and construction management services for natural gas pipeline replacement programs. Mr. Suberbielle has managed all aspects of utility projects, including designing new water, wastewater, and natural gas distribution systems, extending existing distribution systems, and upgrading current systems for future growth. He has designed water, gas, and wastewater pipelines throughout southeast Louisiana.


 

Daryl Ivy, PE

Mr. Ivy has over 40 years of technical and business experience across heavy, civil and marine construction and design for highways and bridges. He has a solid background in structural design, construction engineering, constructability, critical path scheduling, cost analysis, QA/QC plans and procedures, internal controls, procurement, negotiation and information technology. Mr. Ivy has provided technical assistance to both Louisiana and Mississippi DBE firms. He is an expert in contract negotiations, scheduling, bidding and estimating, QA/QC and construction management. Mr. Ivy has over 13 years’ experience in assisting DBE/SS firms.
