Information Technology (IT) Systems Administrator
SJB Group, LLC is seeking a proactive and hands-on Information Technology (IT) Systems Administrator to manage and support all aspects of the firm’s technology infrastructure. This role serves as the sole IT professional for a team of approximately 50 employees, responsible for maintaining servers, managing software systems, ensuring network security, and overseeing all company-issued devices. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who can balance strategic planning with day-to-day technical support.
Key Responsibilities
-
Manage, maintain, and monitor on-premises and cloud-based servers, backups, and data storage systems.
Perform routine maintenance, updates, and security patching of all systems and applications.
Ensure network performance, security, and uptime; troubleshoot connectivity issues and optimize configurations.
Maintain firewall, VPN, and user access policies to safeguard company data.

Oversee installation, licensing, and updates for all company software, including specialized engineering and accounting applications (e.g., Deltek Vision, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Microsoft 365).
Manage software vendor accounts, renewals, and integrations.
Provide user support and training to ensure efficient and secure use of systems.
Develop and maintain software inventory and configuration documentation.

Maintain an accurate inventory of all company-issued devices, including laptops, desktops, tablets, phones, and peripheral equipment.
Coordinate device setup, configuration, and deployment for new and existing staff.
Implement asset tracking and lifecycle management processes.
Manage warranty, repair, and replacement schedules.

Implement and maintain cybersecurity best practices, including antivirus protection, access control, and multifactor authentication.
Conduct regular security audits, user awareness training, and risk assessments.
Manage data backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity plans.

Serve as the primary point of contact for all IT support requests.
Troubleshoot user issues quickly and efficiently, maintaining a professional and supportive attitude.
Provide onboarding/offboarding IT setup and training for new hires.

Evaluate and recommend technology upgrades and improvements aligned with company growth.
Develop annual IT budget and assist in cost-effective procurement of technology assets.
Maintain vendor relationships and manage service contracts.

Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
3–5+ years of experience in IT administration, preferably in a small-to-midsize business environment.
Strong knowledge of Windows Server environments, Microsoft 365 administration, and network management.
Familiarity with virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V), cloud platforms (Azure, AWS), and endpoint security tools.
Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
Survey Instrument Technician
Work as a member of a survey crew performing Boundary Surveys, Topographic Surveys, ALTA Surveys, Right-of-Way Surveys, and Construction Stakeout.
Key Responsibilities

Assist Party Chiefs and other crew members in collecting field data.
Operate equipment in support of Party Chief/crew.
Perform calculations and corrections.
Record measurements and descriptive data.
Search for section corners, property stakes, and survey points.
Load and unload equipment.
Clean and maintain equipment and fleet vehicles.

Maintain safety and awareness while in the field
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent critical thinking skills, able to use logic and reasoning to identify and assess the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

This position will primarily require work outside, occasionally exposure to high and low temperatures, high humidity, and rainy conditions. This position will often require walking between 2 and 10 miles per day, lifting loads up to 25 pounds, and physical movements such as standing, crouching, crawling, and using brush-clearing equipment such as brush-hooks or chainsaws. This position may also require travel and staying out of town occasionally

2 years of experience as an Instrument Technician preferred, ideally with experience using GPS instruments.
OSHA Basic Plus and ATSSA Certified Flagger certifications preferred.
Completion of a High School Diploma or GED required
Survey Party Chief
Lead a survey crew in accurately and safely performing field work, taking measurements, performing calculations, reviewing job specifications and plans, and submitting accurate and complete field data.
Key Responsibilities

Effectively lead a survey crew in completing field assignments.
Communicate with Project Managers to coordinate and clarify field tasks.
Create legible, accurate, and complete field notes.
Plan daily fieldwork to ensure productivity and quality.
Download field data and upload to project folder.
Finalize, copy, and submit field notes.
Ensure that field books are properly indexed and cross-referenced at the completion of each project.

Minimum 5 years of experience as a Party Chief required, or an equivalent combination of field experience and academic preparation.
OSHA Basic Plus and ATSSA Certified Flagger certifications preferred.

Civil CAD/MicroStation Technician
Work closely with Project Engineers and Project Managers to obtain project information and ensure that drawings are accurate, consistent, and complete. This may include complex drafting assignments that must comply with applicable industry standards and codes. These projects will primarily include drainage, sewer, water, paving, grading, and site layout plans for land development and municipal projects.
Key Responsibilities

Review rough sketches, drawings, and other engineering data received from clients, Civil Engineer, or Project Manager.
Create detailed engineering designs and construction drawings, then prepare drawings for proposed improvements such as roads, bridges, drainage systems, water and sewer facilities, and land development projects under the direction of the Civil Engineer or Project Manager.
Assist in the analysis and preparation of reports, maps, drawings, plans, and other items to plan and design project.
Assist in the design and layout of engineering projects using AutoCAD or MicroStation.
Provide suggestions and feedback to civil engineers for appropriate design changes.
Mentor less experienced drafting personnel.

Proficiency with AutoDesk and/or Bentley products
Proficiency using Microsoft products
Ability to perform under pressure and be flexible with disruptions throughout the workday.
